Adopt proactive measures following resurgence of attacks, PLSG urges LGMC chairmen

Local government management committee chairmen of Jos south, Barkin Ladi and Wase in Plateau state have been directed by the government to adopt proactive measures in calming their people, as well as maintaining peace following the resurgence of violent attacks in their areas.

State commissioner for information and communication, Mr. Yiljap Abraham made government position known in a statement in Jos.

Mr. Abraham who noted that the attacks were aimed at turning the state into what he described as a theatre of war, also appealed to the people of the state not to panic but to remain calm as government is on top of the situation.

He explained that it is painful that the attacks are coming when the people are already enjoying peace, and advised those, particularly in the affected areas to cooperate with security agencies by providing them with useful information.

The commissioner disclosed that the state government in collaboration with the security agencies have adopted measures to prevent the spread of the attacks to other vulnerable areas in the state.

It will be recalled that about ten people were reportedly killed in a community in Wase local government area following an alleged discovery of a decomposing corpse in the bush leading to the misunderstanding between the Tarok and Fulanis.

The state police commissioner, Chris Alakpe confirmed the incident said his men had been dispatched to the area, pointing out that details of the incidence were sketchy as it took place in a remote area of the local government.
