Give workers housing loans, TUC urges Taraba govt

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has called on the Taraba state government to consider providing housing loans for its workers to enable them own houses.
President General of the union Mr. Peter Esele, who gave the advice at the third triennial delegates conference of the union last Friday in Jalingo, said the gesture would motivate them for higher productivity.
Esele, who spoke through the deputy president of the union, Alhaji Musa Toly, said workers needed decent housing to always be in the right frame of mind to be productive.
Highlights of the meeting included the election of new executive officers of the union in the state with Hajiya Aminatu Muhammed as chairman.
Others elected are Mr. Victor Olatunde, vice chairman, Alhaji Tukur Taji, secretary, Mr. Solomon Abochol, assistant secretary and Mr. Sule Abasu, public relations officer.
In her acceptance speech, the state chairman, Hajiya Aminatu Muhammed called on members of the union to cooperate with the officials in order to enhance the welfare of the entire staff and increase productivity.
“As we appreciate your support, we call on you to continue to cooperate with us to bring about a better welfare for all of us,” she said.
