Amnesty International has said the Supreme Court decision yesterday dismissing the closely-watched case of Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum Copany is a severe blow on victims of human rights abuses in the Niger Delta as it severely limited the reach of the Alien Tort Statute (ATS) enacted in 1789.
