Kidnappers of Mr Isaac Bature Gbaja, an assistant manager with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Lafia branch, who was kidnapped on Monday night, are demanding for the sum of 10 million naira.
Also kidnapped alongside the CBN staff were two others, whose identity is still sketchy as at press time.
A friend of the CBN staff, who begged for anonymity, said Mr Gbaja, was kidnapped alongside the other victims around 8pm at his wife’s joint near MACFES royal suites, along Kwandere road, Tudun Gwandara, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The incident happened barely 24 hours after a councillor in Lafia local government council, Hon Agidi Bulus Ajeh, kidnapped by unknown gunmen was set free.
NATIONAL ACCORD gathered that the CBN staff was relaxing with his wife’s customers when three Fulani guys stormed the premise with face mask and guns and whisked them away.
“Three Fulani guys, wearing face mask, came from no where and leaned on the CBN staff’s car, then asked those at the joint who owned this car, they answered them that they don’t know the owner”
“So the kidnappers said since they don’t know the owner of the car all of them (customers), including the shop owner should stand up and let them go. That’s how they were taken away” he said.
According to him, the woman told them that the kidnappers were about ten in number, three came and effected the kidnap, then others came out from only God knows where, joined them, as they took their victims on bush parts.
He disclosed that two hours after the incident, the CBN staff wife was released by the kidnappers to come and source for 10 million naira to secure the release of her husband.
He said a total of five persons were kidnapped, one escaped, the woman was let off the hook, while they went away with the CBN staff and two others.
When contacted, the state PPRO Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel said the matter is yet to get to his table as at press time.
