The United States has approved the anti-malarial drug, chloroquine, for use as a treatment against the new coronavirus.

U.S. President Donald Trump, while addressing reporters on Thursday, said, “We’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, and that’s where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been so great.”

“They’ve gone through the approval process – it’s been approved. They took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.”
