Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle
Nigerians on social media are sharply divided following reports that Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has allegedly submitted a list of 19 conditions to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as part of negotiations for a new contract.
The unverified document, which is yet to receive official confirmation, is said to contain demands ranging from improved salary packages and accommodation to enhanced bonuses and better logistics for the team. It also reportedly includes a clause seeking full autonomy over player selection, with no external interference.
So far, neither the NFF nor Chelle has issued any statement to confirm or deny the authenticity of the reported conditions.
However, the claims have already sparked intense debate among football fans and commentators online, with opinions divided over whether the demands are reasonable.
Some Nigerians argue that the alleged requests are standard for a national team coach.
“This is a good demand and NFF should look into it and accept it,” Micheal Oviawe wrote.
“These things are basic to me,” another user said, insisting that the federation can meet the terms if it truly wants to.
Etim Stephen also backed the reported “no interference” clause.
“I like a coach who knows what he wants,” he wrote. “It is only in Nigeria they won’t give you good tools but still expect results.”
Others echoed similar views.
“These are basics for a working environment,” Charles Chibuzo Okoli said.
“He deserves this,” Daniel Opa Smarto added.
However, not all reactions have been positive.
Some critics are particularly concerned about reports suggesting a monthly salary of ₦185 million.
“For 185m monthly? Let him go,” Eze Emmanuel Chelsea reacted.
“He is not supposed to ask for house if he is demanding such salary,” Egeonu Richard Obinwanne wrote.
Others questioned what the federation would expect in return if such terms are approved.
“What should be the expectations from him? Will he win AFCON and World Cup?” one commenter asked.
Joshua Abia was even more blunt.
“For a coach that can’t qualify a big team in Africa for the World Cup?”
For now, the alleged 19-point document remains unverified and confined to social media discussions.
There has been no official confirmation and no denial.
What remains is a heated national debate over whether the Nigeria Super Eagles’ coach deserves the reported terms — or whether the NFF should let him walk away.
