With the 2027 general election drawing closer, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has activated its online portal for political parties to upload names of candidates for various elective positions.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said it is fully prepared to meet the deadline.
Speaking to journalists, the APC Director of Information, Bala Ibrahim, said the party had already concluded internal screening of aspirants and was only awaiting INEC’s official timetable.
“We have been working on these names for some time and have screened those who are qualified to contest,” Ibrahim said.
“Now that INEC is set to receive submissions, we will comply to ensure we meet all requirements.”
He added that once the nomination window opens, the party will submit its list and subsequently issue Certificates of Return to candidates who emerge victorious at the primaries.
“Transparency is key. If you want to do things by the book, without disenfranchising anyone, you must be meticulous and ensure every process is acceptable to all stakeholders,” he said.
The APC gave the assurance amid criticism over delays in releasing primary election results and issuing Certificates of Return to winners.
