
Taraba State Governor,Kefas Agbu and his running mate, Zainab Ibrahim
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, on Friday officially introduced Hajiya Zeinab Ibrahim, the North-East Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement was made at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo during the 58th birthday celebration of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Zainab Ibrahim, who is the younger sister of the late Senator Jummai Alhassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba, had been widely speculated in recent weeks as Kefas’ preferred deputy governorship candidate before the governor formally confirmed her selection.
Addressing guests at the event, Kefas publicly acknowledged Ibrahim as his running mate.
> “I welcome you to this great birthday of our national chairman, you… the incoming deputy governor of Taraba state for the 2027 governorship election, Hajia Zeinab Ibrahim, thank you and welcome.”
The governor also commended Prof. Yilwatda for organising a medical outreach in Taraba as part of activities marking his birthday, noting that residents had already begun benefiting from the free healthcare services.
> “Your team of Doctors for the free treatment and surgery have been on ground working for days, there are also testimonies from the people of Taraba state which we are so much impressed sir, for us in Taraba state, we are all for APC, the reason is to pay back what Mr. President has done for us.
> “What President Tinubu has done for the people of Taraba can not be quantified, Mr. President has recently approved an Army division for us, that alone is capable of stabilizing the life of the people, Mr. Chairman, here in Taraba state, we in APC we are not contesting elections with anybody, we only have people participating in election with us, here we have declare APC from top to bottom.”
Earlier, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda said he deliberately chose Taraba State as the venue for his 58th birthday celebration to demonstrate the party’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
> “I choose to celebrate my birthday here in Taraba to provide medical support to the people of the state. Our party is not just a party that seek for votes, is about justices, peace and unity, we are here to justify the votes the people have given to President Tinubu, for every challenged, downtrodden, the less privileged and the needy persons.
> “APC doesn’t only canvass for votes, we don’t share rice only, we also show the human face of the party to the people, APC doesn’t knock for doors only for votes, but we care for the peoples future, we seek their health and education.
> “We thank you for coming on board to join us in APC Your Excellency, Tinubu don’t measure by number votes he was given during the 2023 presidential election but by human face, we have all reasons from northern states to tell Tinubu thank you, we have a modern Nigeria of our dream, my birthday here is the best ever birthday I ever marked in my life.”
The event drew party supporters, government officials and APC stakeholders from across Taraba State, with the unveiling of Zeinab Ibrahim emerging as the major political highlight ahead of preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
