Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu
Igbo Community Association (ICA), Jalingo Branch, representing members of the Igbo community across Taraba State, has endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas for a second term ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was conveyed in a letter signed by the Association’s President-General, Deacon Michael C. Adili, who attributed the group’s decision to what it described as the governor’s achievements in improving security, expanding access to free education and driving infrastructure development.
Part of the letter reads:
“It will interest you to know that this decision did not only come from our mouth but also from our hearts.”
The association commended the governor’s efforts in tackling insecurity, recalling that residents, including members of the Igbo community, endured frequent attacks by gunmen and kidnappers before his administration came into office.
“Your Excellency sir, before you took over leadership of this noble state, the entire state was under attacks from gun men and kidnapping which affected the entire state and igbos in the state equally faced similar challenges, sleepless night, trauma and we lost millions of Naira to mention but a few…”
The group further described Governor Kefas’ emergence as a turning point for the state.
“Your Excellency, it will interest you to know that your coming is nothing but the coming of a saviour.”
According to the association, the improved security situation has restored peace, encouraged business activities and strengthened peaceful coexistence among residents.
The group also applauded the state government’s free education policy, noting that it has significantly reduced the financial burden of educating children and wards for many families within the community.
It further congratulated the governor on his commitment to road construction and rehabilitation across the state, particularly within Jalingo metropolis, saying the projects have improved connectivity between communities and stimulated commercial activities.
The association pledged its continued support for the governor, including mobilising members to participate in the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise ahead of future elections.
Responding on behalf of Governor Kefas, the Director-General of the Dr. Agbu Kefas Re-Election Campaign, Hon. Danladi Baido, described the endorsement as a welcome development.
Baido conveyed the governor’s appreciation to the association and assured members of the administration’s continued support and commitment to policies aimed at promoting peace, development and inclusive governance across Taraba State.
