Five police officers were killed Sunday morning in an attack by unidentified armed men on a police station in Sourou province in northwestern Burkina Faso’s Boucle du Mouhoun region.
According to the national news agency AIB, the attack took place between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. local time.
A vehicle and eight motorcycles were taken away by the attackers, said the AIB.
Like several other regions of Burkina Faso, the Boucle du Mouhoun region has been facing terrorist attacks since 2015.
