The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Bola Tinubu, winner of the Feb. 25 Presidential election in Rivers.
Prof. Charles Adias,the State Collation Officer for the Presidential election, who presented the result on Tuesday at the INEC headquarter in Rivers, said that APC scored 231,591 votes.
Adias, who is also Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Otueke in Bayelsa, said that Mr Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), polled 175,071 votes to come second while former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 88,468 votes and placed third.
He added that the Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, scored 10,514 votes, Accord Party (A) scored 1,875; Action Alliance (AA), 321; Action Democratic Party (ADP), 953; and Action Peoples Party (APP), 849 in the election.
He also said that ADC scored 1,875 votes, ADP 953; APGA, 1,468; APM, 579; APP, 849; BP, 451; NNPP, 1,322; NRM, 888; PRP, 275; YPP, 797; and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), 5,963.
Adias gave the state total number of registered voters as 3,315,005 and the number of accredited voters as 605,055.
He said that the total votes cast was 553,944, total valid votes, 523,615 while the total number of rejected votes was 30,293 in the election. (NAN)
