Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima
By SADIQ ABUBAKAR, Maiduguri –
The Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious in the Borno State Governorship and Assembly election.
He expressed his optimism on Saturday while addressing newsmen shortly after casting his vote in Maiduguri.
Senator Shettima said the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has never won any governorship election in the political history of Borno State and will never afford to do so.
He said: “the only best thing the opposition party, PDP has ever done so far under the democratic dispensation was in the last Presidential and National Assembly election when it scored about 40% cumulative or total votes .
“Most of the PDP stakeholders are based outside Borno State, Abuja or Kaduna. They are politicians that have decided to be on exile or self-exiled politicians who have abandoned their people for too long and they don’t return to Maiduguri for political activities except during campaign and elections.
” How do you expect such people to win elections when they are not on ground except to make noise on the social media as social media politicians,” Kashim said.
On whether his election victory may have any impact on the APC Governorship candidate, who is the Incumbent Governor, Babagana Zulum, he said lot has been done and more are being planned to be done for the good people of Borno”.
“Hence everybody knows how Governor Zulum has made impact on the lives of the ordinary people of the state including the physically challenged impressively and positively. That makes him to deservable to be re-elected governor in order to continue with his transformation development programs of the State.
“I assure you that Prof. Zulum will get a resounding second-term mandate. With his records of achievements on ground. That’s why everybody across the states of the federation knows his capability abd competence. Presently, we are on the cause of recording another tremendous victory at the end of the day by the grace of God in Borno state”.
