
As part of his sympathy visit to Borno State, the Director General of Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, held a side Meeting with the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, in Maiduguri.
The DG stated that FRCN is planning to take over an obsolete Medium Wave Transmitter Station belonging to the state government along Bama Road. He also affirmed that the FRCN is willing to assist in the resuscitation of BRTV Maiduguri, which was severely damaged by the devastating flood of 10th September, 2024.
Dr. Bulama assured that in the interim, Peace FM Maiduguri will step in to fill the gap created by the distress of BRTV. In addition, the DG also assured to strengthen the capacity of Peace FM Maiduguri for enhanced service delivery.
In response, the Honourable Commissioner appreciated the FRCN DG, who was also a one time Commissioner of the defunct Ministry of Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Borno State, for his insights, initiatives and positive plans for Borno State.
The Commissioner assured that the state government is ever ready to partner and collaborate with the FRCN.
The brief meeting was attended by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Mustapha Modu; the North East Zonal Director of FRCN, the GMs of Peace FM and BRTV Maiduguri, as well as the Director of Administration and Supply of the Ministry.
