Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the death of a commercial sex worker at a brothel in Akure
According to the police, the incident occurred after a violent altercation between the sex worker and a customer.
The police spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, explained that the disagreement began when the sex worker complained of sudden weakness during an encounter and could no longer continue providing the agreed service.
“The customer became enraged, resulting in a heated verbal and physical confrontation,” Ayanlade said.
The police were called to the scene after the customer returned with a group of miscreants to forcibly retrieve N15,000.
“A patrol team was immediately mobilised to the scene, arriving promptly and finding the suspect and his accomplices attempting to recover the money by force, while the victim’s condition continued to deteriorate,” Ayanlade said.
DSP Ayanlade said the victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Three suspects were arrested at the scene, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend two others who remain at large.
The police spokesperson said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for investigation.
“All necessary steps would be taken to ensure justice is served,” Ayanlade assured.
