Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned a recent Russian attack on civilians in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, which injured nine people, including women in a maternity ward.
In a Telegram post, Zelensky accused the Russian military of deliberately targeting civilians and warned that Russia would continue to attack with bombs, missiles, and drones.
Zelensky stated that the attack on Kharkiv was not an isolated incident, as there were also attacks on the areas of Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Odessa.
He emphasized that strengthening air defenses was a top priority to protect civilians from these attacks.
*“UN Report on Civilian Casualties”*
The United Nations recently published a report stating that the number of civilians killed in Russia’s bombardment of Ukraine in June was the highest in three years.
This comes as both sides in the war continue to bombard each other every night and day.
*Russian response to drone attacks*
The Russian Defence Ministry reported that 155 Ukrainian drones had been shot down, while Dmitry Milyaev, governor of the Tula region south of Moscow, said that one person had been killed and another injured in drone attacks. Local media reported that the attacks were directed against a district where three arms factories are located, and a drone factory in the town of Dubna, near Moscow, was also attacked.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues, with both sides engaging in intense military operations. The situation remains volatile, with civilians bearing the brunt of the attacks.
