All Progressives Congress (APC) has consolidated its political dominance in Kaduna State, winning all three legislative seats contested in Saturday’s bye-elections.
In the Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency, APC candidate Felix Joseph Bagudu emerged victorious, securing 34,580 votes to defeat his closest rival, Princess Esther Ashivelli Dawaki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 11,491 votes — a margin of 23,089.
Breaking down the results, Bagudu garnered 10,487 votes in Kajuru Local Government Area, while the PDP scored 6,789. In Chikun LGA, APC extended its lead with 24,093 votes, as PDP managed 4,702. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) trailed with 3,477 votes, while other parties recorded minimal figures.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Abubakar Jumare, announced the result on Sunday, noting that the election was peaceful and largely hitch-free. Bagudu now fills the House of Representatives seat left vacant following the death of Labour Party’s Ekene Abubakar Adams.
Meanwhile, in the Kaduna State House of Assembly bye-elections, the APC also clinched victories in both Zaria Kewaye and Basawa constituencies.
At Zaria Kewaye, APC’s Isa Haruna Ihamo secured a commanding win with 26,613 votes. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Nuhu Sada Abdullahi, came second with 5,721 votes, while PDP’s Mamuda Abdullahi Wappa polled 5,331.
Similarly, in Basawa Constituency, APC candidate emerged winner with 10,926 votes, defeating the PDP candidate who garnered 5,499 votes.
The trio of victories further solidifies APC’s grip on Kaduna politics and signals strong grassroots support ahead of future elections.
