Senator Gbenga Daniel
By OLA MODUPE, Abeokuta –
Ogun State APC Working Committee has upheld the suspension of Senator Gbenga Daniel and Kunle Folarin by their respective wards for alleged anti-party activities.
The Ogun APC Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, announced this in a statement issued in Abeokuta.
The statement noted that the meeting, chaired by State Chairman Yemi Sanusi on Tuesday, was attended by 16 members.
It said the committee reviewed reports from disciplinary panels probing allegations of misconduct and anti-party activities against Daniel and Folarin in Ward IV and Ward VI of Sagamu Local Government, respectively.
According to the statement, Ward IV established a disciplinary committee to investigate claims of anti-party conduct by Daniel, while Ward VI formed a similar committee to examine allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party actions by Folarin.
Both individuals were invited in writing to attend disciplinary hearings to present their defense or seek pardon but failed to respond, submit written defenses, or appear at the scheduled meetings.
Due to their absence, the committees proceeded with deliberations, reviewed testimonies from available witnesses, and evaluated documentary evidence.
Consequently, both members were indefinitely suspended pending further investigation and the outcome of the committees’ inquiries.
The statement added that the suspension letters were forwarded to the state chairman for review and approval by the State Working Committee, which has since ratified the suspensions.
The APC emphasized that the decision reflects its dedication to enforcing discipline and adhering to its constitution.
