In commemoration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most fitting leader for the challenges currently facing the nation.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, hailed Tinubu’s leadership as timely and transformative. “As Nigeria proudly marks 65 years of independence, we salute the resilience of our people and the vision of a president who is committed to rebuilding this great nation,” Oladejo said.
According to him, the celebration is more than a ceremonial event—it is “an opportunity to reflect on our journey, assess our progress, and recommit to the promise of a better future.” In that context, he argued, Nigeria is fortunate to have Tinubu at the helm.
“At this defining moment, it is evident that Nigeria could not have asked for a better leader than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Oladejo asserted. “He is the man for the moment—courageous, visionary, and determined to pull the nation out of the deep hole dug by years of misrule, reckless borrowing, and corruption under the watch of the opposition.”
The APC spokesman pointed to bold reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration—including the controversial removal of fuel subsidy, investments in agriculture, infrastructure, and education—as evidence of a long-term vision. He noted, “President Tinubu is thinking beyond short-term populism. His commitment to free technical education with financial support for students reflects a focus on sustainable national growth.”
Taking aim at opposition politicians, Oladejo warned Nigerians against being swayed by those “whose only goal is to return to the old ways of looting the nation’s resources under the guise of public service.”
“These are familiar faces—figures whose records are riddled with corruption, nepotism, and betrayal of public trust. Yet, they present themselves as redeemers,” he said, in a veiled reference to the opposition’s anticipated comeback in 2027. “But Nigerians are more discerning now.”
He described Tinubu as “the reformer-in-chief” whose leadership style contrasts sharply with that of the opposition, stating: “He has shown the difference between leadership with vision and political ambition rooted in ethnicity and selfishness.”
As the nation reflects on six and a half decades of independence, Oladejo urged Nigerians to “rally behind President Tinubu” and support the APC’s vision. “The journey to greatness has begun,” he said. “With Asiwaju at the helm, Nigeria is well on its way to reclaiming its rightful place as the true giant of Africa.”
The APC statement wraps up on a note of optimism, calling on citizens to remain united and patient as the government lays the groundwork for a more prosperous and just Nigeria.
