Speaking on behalf of the senatorial candidates, Anyam said the party was poised to make an impact in 2027 in Benue State.
The primary, held in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agents, and party executives was described by party leaders as peaceful and rancour-free.
Presiding over the exercise, the Returning Officer of the primary election and SDP National Welfare Officer, Mrs. Rosemary Effiong said the decision to adopt consensus reflected the party’s commitment to fairness, equity and justice.
“As you go, remember what you said at the screening. You promised you are going to work for the people. Let your work be for the people,” Effiong told the aspirants.
The leader of SDP in Benue State, Prof. Sebastine Hon SAN said the party’s internal process upheld its motto of progress.
“Our party is rancour-free. It’s devoid of skirmishes. Our motto is progress. We have filled all the positions for House of Assembly and National Assembly,” he said.
Prof. Hon recalled the legacy of Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu, who contested on the SDP platform and remains one of the state’s most respected former governors.
“Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu flew on the SDP ticket. He remains one of the best our state has produced. SDP is the party for Benue State. It’s the people’s party. A vote for SDP is for progress and development,” he stated.
Speaking for the House of Representatives candidates, Hon. Lawrence Vihimga thanked God and the party for the opportunity.
“Underdevelopment, insecurity, and disunity are of concern to us. SDP is standing on solid rock to give direction to the people of Benue State,” he said.
