Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening distance learning delivery through the adoption of digital technologies aimed at expanding access to quality education.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, stated this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on smart education between ABU and DazzleView Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd., Guangzhou, China, on Monday.
Prof. Ahmed said the partnership would enhance collaboration in educational technology, research, capacity building and industry engagement, while helping to address the challenge of out-of-school children in developing countries.
According to him, technology-enabled solutions offer effective pathways for expanding access to quality education, particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations.
“This is an area where partnerships between universities and technology companies can make a truly transformative difference,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor described the agreement as a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between the two organisations and advancing innovation in teaching and learning.
“Together, we can connect knowledge with practical application, transform ideas into solutions, and ensure that technology serves as a powerful tool for inclusion and development,” he added.
Ahmed noted that the MoU would serve as a foundation for a stronger and more productive relationship between ABU and DazzleView.
He commended the Chinese technology company for its continued support to the university, recalling its donation of a smart classroom in 2022, which he said had significantly improved teaching and learning at the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated ABU’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research and innovation, adding that the university was placing greater emphasis on entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of research outputs to ensure that innovations are translated into practical solutions that benefit society.
