Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports of a purported kidnapping at Phase 1 Primary School in Gbagalape, Abuja, clarifying that no abduction took place.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the police said officers attached to the Nyanya Division swiftly responded after receiving a distress call alleging an ongoing kidnapping at the school.
According to the statement, security personnel and surveillance teams were immediately deployed to the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of pupils and staff.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that students had suddenly begun shouting “kidnappers” and fleeing the school premises, triggering panic among teachers and residents in the area.
However, preliminary investigations and surveillance conducted by the police found no evidence of any kidnapping incident. Authorities said no suspect was sighted and no victim was identified during the operation.
The Command urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary fear, confusion, or tension within communities.
Police also reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining security across the FCT and encouraged citizens to promptly report any genuine security concerns through the appropriate channels.
