Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have rescued six more abducted victims during ongoing search and rescue operations in Borno State, as the military sustains pressure on fleeing terrorists across the North East.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued in Maiduguri on Saturday.
According to Goni, the latest breakthrough followed sustained air and ground operations backed by credible intelligence.
He said the troops rescued six victims—comprising four adults and two infants—at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area.
The military spokesman explained that the victims were among those abducted by terrorists in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area in May.
“Following sustained air and ground exploitation supported by credible intelligence, troops successfully rescued six additional abducted persons comprising four adults and two infants at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area,” Goni said.
He added that the rescued victims had been evacuated to a secure location where they were receiving medical attention and other forms of support.
“The victims who were abducted in Mussa, Askira/Uba LGA in the month of May have been rescued and evacuated to a secure location where they are undergoing comprehensive medical evaluation and receiving appropriate care,” he stated.
Goni further revealed that Operation Hadin Kai had provided the victims with relief materials and other basic necessities to ease their suffering while arrangements were being made to reunite them with their families.
He said the successful rescue underscored the effectiveness of the ongoing coordinated search and rescue efforts involving the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Borno State Government, other security agencies and auxiliary forces.
The spokesman also disclosed that troops, while pursuing fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal routes, recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents.
“During the exploitation of the terrorists’ withdrawal axis, troops recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents, further highlighting the effectiveness of the sustained offensive and the disordered nature of the terrorists’ retreat under intense military pressure,” he said.
Goni assured Nigerians that Operation Hadin Kai would sustain the rescue mission until all remaining abducted victims were safely recovered.
“Operation HADIN KAI reassures the public that Search and Rescue operations will continue with renewed vigour until every remaining victim is safely accounted for,” he said.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies while advising members of the public to ignore unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.
According to him, the military remains committed to protecting lives and property, defeating terrorism, and restoring lasting peace and stability across the North-East.
