Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 100-bed General Hospital in Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area.
This was in fulfillment of the Governor’s promise made on Wednesday during the flag-off of the 2026 Wet Farming Season and the launch of the sales and distribution of subsidised fertiliser and other agricultural inputs to farmers.

“In fulfilment of my promise to the people of Kwaya Kusar that I shall construct another General Hospital, we are here today to lay the foundation of this hospital, and it is my sincere hope that the construction will be completed on or before six months,” he added.
Governor Zulum explained that while the new hospital is under construction, the existing General Hospital would be remodelled and upgraded with modern equipment to continue providing quality healthcare services to residents of Kwaya Kusar and neighbouring communities.
He also approved the immediate recruitment of one nurse, five Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs), and two Medical Records Officers for the hospital.
