EHIME ALEX, Lagos
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday led members of the commission on prayer walk against killings, insecurity and for the peace of the nation.
The prayer walk has followed a call for prayers and advocacy by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the umbrella body of all Christians and Christians organizations in the country.
A memo dated January 29, 2020 on the subject “RE: CALL FOR PRAYERS AND ADVOCACY BY THE CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA” and signed by Pastor J.F. Odesola, Assistant General Overseer of the RCCG, had directed the A.G.Os., SATGOs, Pastors-in-Charge of Regions and Provinces to heed to the clarion call.
The memo read, “The Christian Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body for all Christians and Christians organisations in Nigeria, has made a clarion call for prayers and advocacy to all Christians in Nigeria in response to the inhumane acts against Christians in the Country.
“Prayers and fasting scheduled from Friday 31st January to Sunday 2nd February 2020. Since RCCG is currently on a fasting and praying programme, the prayer focus within this period should be against the gruesome killings of innocent people in the country and prayer for the government to develop capacity to overcome the criminals troubling the nation.
“Special prayer walk on Sunday 2nd February 2020. All Parishes of RCCG are enjoined to close the thanksgiving service early on Sunday (latest by 11:00am), and have members match round their immediate environment, praying for God’s intervention in the ongoing situation in Nigeria.”
Shortly after he ended February’s Thanksgiving Service at the National Headquarters of the church in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye thereafter led members of the church on a prayer walk and to pray against killings and insecurity in the land and for peace to be restored to Nigeria.
The prayer walk has taken place simultaneously across the RCCG churches nationwide.
At the House of Favour, Ogun Province IV Headquarters Parish of the RCCG, the Pastor in charge of Province (PICP), Pastor Williams Akinbamijo, others pastors, ministers, workers and members of the Parish, in obedience to the clarion call, took a prayer walk around the Mowe environs to pray against killings, insecurity and for peace to be restored in Nigeria.
