Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin and President Bola Tinubu
Member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has officially dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his full support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Jibrin, who represents the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, announced his decision in a statement released on Monday.
He revealed that the move marked his formal exit from both the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement led by former Kano governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The lawmaker made the announcement during a grand reception in his hometown of Kofa, Bebeji Local Government Area, where thousands of supporters gathered to welcome him back to the APC fold.
According to Jibrin, his decision was driven by a renewed belief in President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s progress.
“I am proud to realign with the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as we work together for a greater Nigeria,” he said.
As part of the event, over 2,000 Islamic clerics (Ulamas) offered special prayers for the president, seeking peace, unity, and development in Kano State and across the country.
Jibrin’s defection comes barely two months after the NNPP expelled him for alleged anti-party activities and failure to pay membership dues.
He, however, expressed appreciation to members of the NNPP for their past support and urged his loyalists to join him in his new political journey under the APC.
