Progressive Youth Intellectuals (PYI) said the choice of Senator-elect, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Sen. Barau Jibrin, as Senate President and Deputy Senate of the 10th Senate was APC’s agenda for stability of Nigeria.
The group supported the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) choice of Rep. Tajudeen Abbas (APC-Kaduna) and Rep. Benjamin Kalu (APC-Abia) as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.
Mr Hafizu Liman, the Convener of the group, made this known at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said that the group had decided to support Akpabio/Barau and Tajudeen/Kalu in accordance with the APC position on zoning of the principal and presiding officers of the 10th National Assembly.
“This decision is a clear manifestation of APC’s desired unity and stability agenda for Nigeria.
“Evidently, the leadership of these extraordinary gentlemen and noble legislators who are easily assessable and committed to the service of our fatherland would flourish.
“Their leadership will bring about harmony and a smooth work relationship with the Executive Arm.”
He said that Akpabio/Barau and Tajudeen/Kalu would ensure a harmonious relationship with the Tinubu/Shettima’s administration.
Liman described Jibrin as the only person that could restore the APC dominance in Kano State and the entire North-West to the President in the next election.
“Jibrin exhibits qualities of a rarely but exceptional leader whose passion for the development of our zone is second to none within the entire North-West senators.”
He, however, called on major critical stakeholders of the party, especially the legislators to as a matter of national cohesion, comply with the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC).
Also, Mr Gabriel Otu, Coordinator South-South for the Progressive Youth Intellectuals, said that what the national assembly needed were people who would support Tinubu’s goal: ” The Renewed Hope.”
“No better candidate than the candidature of Akpabio/Barau. It is a project we all must support as young intellectuals of APC.”(NAN)
