
In preparation for the highly anticipated World Cup qualifier match between Nigeria and Rwanda, Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner Baba Azare has promised comprehensive security measures to ensure a safe and seamless event.
Speaking at a press conference in Uyo on Thursday, Azare emphasized the police force’s readiness to safeguard football enthusiasts and visitors.
“We are fully equipped to host this international match and ensure it proceeds without any security issues,” Azare stated, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The game is scheduled for September 6 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, kicking off at 5 p.m.
Azare assured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining peace throughout the event. “Our officers will deploy their full strength to secure the match,” he declared, guaranteeing the safety of all attendees traveling to and from the state.
Addressing potential troublemakers, Azare issued a stern warning: “Any individuals planning to disrupt the peace should reconsider, as our tactical team is prepared to decisively counter any acts of violence.”
With these measures in place, the Akwa Ibom police aim to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all at the Nigeria-Rwanda clash. (NAN)
