Al-Makura lauds Buhari for establishing Lafia Teaching Hospital

The lawmaker representing Nasarawa South at the National Assembly, Sen. Umaru Al-Makura (APC), has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, for approving the establishment of a Federal Teaching Hospital, in Lafia.

Sen. Al-Makura, who is the immediate past governor of Nasarawa State, gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Lafia.

He commended Mr President, for assenting to the bill for the establishment of Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, saying it is one of best things that have ever happened to the state.

According to the senator, to say he is happy over the President’s action is an understatement, because he is excited about it.

“I am excited and I am fill with unlimited joy, that by the special grace of God, something that I conceived since when I was the governor has materialized.

“I conceived the idea of a Teaching Hospital in 2012 when the delegation from the Federal Government visited us that time for the takeoff of the Federal University of Lafia.

“I even gone ahead and improved the structures and equipments at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia and also built another separate structures befitting of a teaching hospital in Lafia.

“So, after my tenure as a governor I was elected to serve as a senator and I decided to continue with the dream of having a Teaching Hospital in Lafia to serve the University.

“I therefore, sponsored the bill for the establishment of the Teaching Hospital, and it had undergone all the necessary legislative processes and passed in September 2022 and thank God the President had graciously assented to it recently,” Al-Makura added.

He said the hospital would be of enormous benefit to the state and beyond in terms of training of more medical Doctors and addressing the various health challenges of the people.

The senator said he has attracted a lot of federal government presence to his constituency and promised to do more to improve the welfare of his people.

Recall that the bill for the establishment of the Teaching Hospital Lafia, was among the bills signed by the President recently.

On the forthcoming general elections, Al-Makura called on the people of the state to vote for Bola Tinubu, Presidential candidate of their party, Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, himself and other candidates of APC.

He explained that Tinubu is a caring politician and a political mentor to many political mentors, because of his believe in inclusiveness and mentorship.

According to him if Tinubu is elected, as the President, the country would witness progress, value addition and all Nigerians would be proud to identify with, anywhere, anytime.
