Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia
By THOMAS AKASE, Makurdi –
Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has announced the one-month suspension of Chairperson of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, in response to a resolution passed by the state House of Assembly.
The decision was detailed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, in Makurdi.
The House had previously approved a six-month suspension of Adagba to facilitate an investigation into her activities at SUBEB.
Additionally, Governor Alia suspended Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, and the Executive Secretary of the Lottery Commission, Mr. Michael Uper, each for one month.
Governor Alia reaffirmed his dedication to upholding the rule of law, due process, and the separation of powers.
He praised the House of Assembly for fulfilling its constitutional duties and assured Benue residents of his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective governance.
He directed the affected institutions to maintain uninterrupted service delivery during the officials’ suspension and urged the public to continue supporting his government’s efforts to create a state that serves everyone.
