All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has said he will engage in broad consultations with his party leadership and supporters before deciding his next line of action regarding the outcome of the poll.
Ukachukwu stated this on Sunday in Awka while reacting to the election result.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, secured re-election with 422,664 votes, while Ukachukwu polled 99,445 votes.
“We are still collecting information regarding Saturday’s governorship election from our supporters and party members across the state,” Ukachukwu said.
“We will also consult with the APC at every level, and when we are done with all these, we will make our next move known to the public.”
He dismissed allegations of vote buying by the APC during the election, describing the claims by the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as false and unfounded.
Ukachukwu maintained that the election results demonstrated the presence and strength of the APC in Anambra, contrary to speculation that the party had little or no influence in the state.
He further commended members of the press for their role in ensuring a peaceful and credible election, praising journalists for “balancing their reportage before, during and after the poll.”
