Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas
All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its planned reception for Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, which was initially slated for Wednesday.
In a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said a new date would be announced in due course. Kefas had earlier made public his intention to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Morka explained that the postponement was in honour of members of the armed forces and civilians recently killed in terror-related attacks, as well as victims of the latest wave of abductions, including secondary school students kidnapped in Kebbi.
“We salute the courage and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, who put their lives on the line in defence of our liberty and security,” Morka said.
“As we mourn our dear compatriots, we pray for the safe return of our innocent students, who were forcefully taken from their families by forces of evil. Our great party commiserates deeply with the families of victims of these incidents.”
He added that President Bola Tinubu’s administration remained committed to eradicating insurgency and banditry nationwide and bringing their “despicable” perpetrators to justice.
