
On 25th of April, 2025 unending waves of applause and a sense of more safer flights filled the minds of airline passengers in Nigeria as the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) officially concluded its flight calibration exercise.
The event, which drew critical stakeholders in the aviation sector at the Abuja Airport Technical building was
organized in collaboration with NAMA’s technical partners, AFIS LTD UK,
climaxed with a formal checkout ceremony.
Welcoming stakeholders, at the event, the General Manager of Calibration, Engr. Miri Selzing, noted that the exercise remain crucial not only to bolster the Nigeria’s aviation safety but also ensure its technical independence.
Earlier in his keynote address, the Managing Director/CEO of NAMA, Engr. Farouk Umar, applauded the uncommon professionalism and resilience demonstrated by the pilots throughout the tasking calibration exercise.
Engr. Farouk, who maintained that
the successful completion of the exercise serves as a commendable milestone in strengthening the nation’s indigenous aviation capacity, also
presented new epaulettes and certificates of honour to the pilots in recognition of their exceptional performance
While registering his uttermost gratitude to all stakeholders in the aviation industry, Engr. Farouk, further, recognized both Mr. Oyedele Jubril, who was formerly an Air Radar Traffic Controller and Mr. Ajijola Kareem, a former Air Traffic Engineer as the newly type-rated pilots from NAMA.
Speaking at the end of the event, one of the stakeholders affirmed that the Nigerian Aviation industry is recording steady progress courtesy of the professional leadership qualities of the MD/CEO, Engr. Farouk, whom according to him, remained committed to the progress of the Nigerian Airspace Agency.
