Nigerian Army has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media and other online platforms, warning Nigerians to disregard claims inviting applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) Course 50/2027.
The Army in a statement by its spokesperson, Colonel Appolonia Anele, described the advertisement as false and fraudulent, stressing that it did not originate from the Nigerian Army.
The Army urged prospective applicants not to apply through, patronise or make payments to any individual, group or website claiming to be conducting recruitment on its behalf.
It reiterated that all recruitment and commissioning exercises into the Nigerian Army are conducted free of charge, transparently and strictly on merit. It also emphasised that official recruitment announcements are only made through national newspapers, the Nigerian Army’s verified social media platforms and other recognised official communication channels.
According to the Army, no recruitment form is sold, and no individual or agent is authorised to facilitate enlistment or demand payment at any stage of the recruitment process.
It also warned those behind the fake advertisement to stop immediately, revealing that security agencies have been activated to identify, arrest and prosecute everyone involved in producing, circulating or using the fraudulent recruitment notice to scam unsuspecting Nigerians.
It added that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
The statement reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting the integrity of its recruitment process and advised members of the public to verify all recruitment information through its official communication channels. It also encouraged Nigerians to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the nearest military formation or security agency.
