Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has named Li Zhensheng, a Chinese national, as the state’s new Economic Adviser, a strategic move to bolster international partnerships and economic growth.
The appointment was unveiled during a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that the appointment aims to position Bauchi as a key player in global economic cooperation.
“This partnership opens doors to transformative opportunities, bringing investment and development to our people,” he stated.
The collaboration is expected to spur advancements in agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade, aligning with the broader diplomatic ties between Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu and China’s President Xi Jinping.
As part of the agreement, a Bauchi State Representative Office will be established in China to streamline project execution and ensure efficient delivery.
The MoU sets a foundation for tailored project agreements, fostering sustainable growth and modernization. “We’re not just building infrastructure; we’re creating jobs, enhancing skills, and elevating Bauchi’s global profile,” Mohammed added.
Li Zhensheng, who chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership.
“Our goal is to mobilize resources to support Bauchi’s vision for sustainable development and modern infrastructure,” he pledged, underscoring the Centre’s commitment to driving economic progress and improving livelihoods in the state.
