Bauchi lawmakers mourn colleague’s son murdered by kidnappers

Members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, mourned the death of a son of their colleague, Bala Ali, who represents Dass Constituency, who was killed by suspected kidnappers.

The Spokesperson of Abubakar Suleiman, the Speaker of the House, Abdul Burra told our Correspondent that this was part of proceedings of the Assembly during plenary on Tuesday.

He said that the member representing Burra Constituency, Ado Wakili, disclosed the murder of their colleague’s eldest son by kidnappers under personal explanation.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that Tuesday’s plenary was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Danlami Ahmed Kawule.

According to Burra, the lawmaker who extended his condolences to the Members on the murder of his colleague’s son described the incident as “tragic,” and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the decease and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

Responding to the motion, the Deputy Speaker directed that a special prayer be conducted for the decease. Bello Shira representing Shira Constituency led the special prayer.

The Deputy Speaker then announced that the lawmakers would pay a condolence visit to the Member and his family immediately after the plenary.

The Speaker’s Spokesperson said that Baballe Dambam representing Dambam/Zagaya/Jalam Constituency, while narrating what happened, explained that the deceased was kidnapped by unknown people who held him for days and subsequently killed him.

He said that described the incident as shocking and disturbing adding that the funeral prayers for the deceased has already taken place.

Our Correspondent reports that the then Member representing Dass Constituency, Musa Baraza, was attacked and killed on 14th August, 2020 by yet to be identified gunmen

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Amed Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident to journalists said that the deceased’s two wives and one year old child were also abducted by the gunmen.

They were later released from captivity after several days in captivity.
