Bayelsa Queens, champions of Nigeria’s Women’s Premier League, secured their spot in the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B Qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 victory over Togo’s ASKO on Wednesday at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique.
The Prosperity Girls asserted control early but broke through in the second half.
An own goal by ASKO’s Oumou Bani just two minutes after the break opened the scoring, followed by Olabiyi Alaba’s goal six minutes later. Shakira Moshood sealed the win with a strike in the 80th minute.
“We controlled proceedings from the outset, but had to wait until the second half to make our dominance count,” a team spokesperson noted.
Following their earlier triumph over Ghana’s Police Machine on Sunday, Bayelsa Queens will now face Benin’s Sam Nelly on Saturday, aiming to top Group B and advance further in the qualifiers.
