Benue State Police Command is collaborating with other security agencies to ensure safety of lives and property in the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Benue Police Command, Steve Yabanet disclosed this on Tuesday during a press briefing in his office in Makurdi.
This collaboration, the Police Commissioner said was evident in the relative peace that was bein enjoyed in the State in recent times.
Yabanet lamented that some miscreants have chosen to create unnecessary tension and cause unrest but assured that they would not tolerate such behaviour.
With that efforts, the Commissioner informed that cult activities at Wadata part of Makurdi has been brought to a bearable minimum adding that there were renewed cult activities in the area where members of Black Confraternity went for a cult meeting across the River Benue and clashed with members of the Red Confraternity where during investigation, three (3) corpses were recovered at the scene while ten (10) suspects were arrested in connection with the case.
Those arrested were Simon Mande, Moses Tarlumun, Jamilu Idris, Seleki Joseph, Ahmed Dayabu, Muazu Usman, Akor Ada, Terfa Wergba, Almustapha Abubakar and Usman Gambo all males of Wadata area.
Investigation, according to the Commissioner was on going to arrest other suspects.
The Police Commissioner, further, revealed that there was a report of a missing child in Northbank Makurdi and eventually one Obadiah Samaila of Kizito Junction Agyragu, Doduguru, Nasarawa State was arrested and brought to the E Division Police station where he confessed to have stolen the child from his house in Northbank for trafficking.
He also noted police officers from Naka Division who were on patrol along Makurdi-Naka road intercepted and arrested one Idris Garba, Mohammed Usman, Ibrahim Mohammed and Rafa Muazu all of Lafia, Nasarawa State and Sunday Demekaa of Gwer-East Local Government Area with a Nissan truck loaded with iron pipelines suspected to be stolen.
Yabanet explained that the suspects could not give satisfactory account of how they got the items even as investigation revealed that they were petroleum pipelines vandalized around Gwer-Local Government Area and taken to an unknown destination.
He also maintained that a robbery gang was operating around Yogbo village in Guma Local Government Area but investigators at Daudu Division conducted a raid in the area and arrested one Yakubu Kantoma and Abu Ishaku both of Sekereke, Yogbo village.
The suspects were identified by one of their victims and investigation was ongoing.
