Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo has strengthened its collaboration with the Nigeria Army College of Environmental Science and Technology (NACEST), Makurdi, for better performance and for the benefit of the Nigerian child.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the management of NACEST, the Acting Rector of the polytechnic Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Barki, who appreciated the NACEST team for the visit, stressed the need for the collaboration, insisting that it would build synergy even as both institutions operate a similar mandate with a common regulatory body.
Represented by the Deputy Rector, Academics, Dr Emmanuel Ameh during the visit, Dr. Barki on behalf of management, staff and students of Benue State Polytechnic congratulated the Rector of NACEST of his appointment and promised to work together to strengthen the relationship.
Dr Barki informed NACEST management that the Polytechnic was ever willing to step up the partnership, especially in deficient areas and that its doors were widely open for sharing of ideas, resource persons and equipment that would be beneficial to both Institutions.
On the request by NACEST for affiliation of some departments to Benue State Polytechnic, Dr. Barki informed the NACEST team that the request would be considered by the Polytechnic management and the academic board but assured them of positive response.
The Rector of NACEST, Maj. General A. P. Oguntola, earlier in his speech, said he was in the Polytechnic to familiarize himself with the Institution in view of the existing Memorandum of Understanding, (MOU) between the two Institutions.
Maj. General Oguntola disclosed that his visit which was coming on the heels of his appointment as Rector in January 2024, was to further strengthen the MOU.
Oguntola disclosed that the NBTE would be in his school in a few months time for Accreditation and Resource Inspection and sought the assistance of the Polytechnic in the areas for Resource Persons, especially in Mass Communication, which they were expected to unbundle.
In her comment, the NACEST Deputy Rector, Dr. Mrs. Comfort Adadu, appreciated the Polytechnic for its understanding and for always attending to the needs of NACEST, even at short notice.
According to her, NACEST was putting up a proposal for the consideration of some of her departments as affiliates to the Polytechnic and prayed for more collaboration between both Institutions.
The Acting Polytechnic Registrar, Mr. Ezekiel Tamita, in his remarks appreciated NACEST for the affiliation given to the department of Banking and Finance whose first set of graduates were already undergoing their NYSC programme.
The high point of the visit was the presentation of a plaque and some journals to the Acting Rector Dr Barki by the Rector, NACEST, Makurdi.
As part of the visit, the Rector of NACEST, Maj. General Oguntola had a brief stop over at the Department of Mass Communication where he was received by the HOD, Mr. Nongomin Jacob.
On the entourage of the Rector, NACEST, were the Deputy Rector, Dr. Mrs. Comfort Adadu, Mrs. Amaka Onuh of Mass Communication Department, Mr. Christian Okoli of the Department of Business Administration and Management and NACEST PRO, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya.
The Ag. Registrar of Benue Polytechnic , Mr. Tamita Ezekiel, the Director of Works, Engr. Dr. John Shiwua, HOD Mass Communication, Mr. Nongomin Jacob, amongst others, were in the Deputy Rector’s office to receive the visitors from NACEST, Makurdi.
