The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State has suspended its President, Baana Lawan Ja’afar over alleged diversion of 13 Hilux Toyota vehicles given to the organization by the Borno State Government and the NNPC Limited for operational purposes.

The CJTF, however, appointed Baba Shebu Abdulganiyu as the acting President of the organization, who also doubles as the Commander Sector 4 CJTF.

The Borno State Auditor General of CJTF, Bashir Abbas, disclosed this on Sunday while addressing journalists at the NUJ Press Center, Maiduguri,

Abbas said the leadership of CJTF Borno State after series of meetings and deliberations decided to reinstate some suspended members in line with the directive of Borno state Government.

The suspended members according to him included: Babakura Mustapha, Abba Aji Kalli, Abba Tijani Sadiq and Bar. Jibrin Tela Gunda.

Abbas, who is also the former Sector 4 Commander said the group unanimously reached the decision having given regard to Article 6 rule 2 (vi) of the CJTF constitution.

Meanwhile, another group of the Borno State CJTF led by the super overall, Baba Shehu Abdulganiyu, who is in charge of 10 Sector Commands of the CJTF, rejected the interim appointment of an Acting President, insisting that they will not accept the position while claiming that the group is not divided despite the fact that there is a crack in the organization.

He also denied the allegations leveled against the suspended President that he diverted 13 Hilux pick up vehicles meant for the operational activities of the CJTF.

“We suggest that the allegation should be forwarded to the committee for investigation and the culprits should be brought to book as well punished accordingly’.

“We are intact and I assure you that we will continue to resolve our differences which are inevitable despite the rift existing between the leaders of the of the group, sector commands and unit commands where some are in support of President Baana Lawan Jaafar while others are against the president, who was alleged to have accumulated wealth from the CJTF as fraudulent and bureaucratic at the detriment of the members”, he said.
