
Borno Deputy Governor, Hon Umar Kadafur

Borno State Government has commended The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) for its support and assistance to the people and government of Borno state in terms of housing, security, , education, health, empowerment, poverty alleviation and livelihoods support.
The Deputy Governor, Hon Umar Kadafur, gave the commendation on Thursday when the UNDP delegates paid a courtesy visit to the Government House Maiduguri.

He thanked the team for all the support UNDP has been rendering to the people of Borno state and the country at large.

The deputy governor also expressed appreciation to the UNDP on behalf of the state government for rehabilitating many projects in Damboa, Banki, Monguno and Ngarnam communities in the first phase of their projects and expressed hope that more communities would be considered in the second phase of the project.
He said the UNDP’s efforts have assisted the state significantly in the establishment of civil authorities in many areas as well as peace security and stability, while calling for more support in the areas of rehabilitation of surrendered Boko Haram fighters.
The Assistant Secretary General and Director Regional Bureau for Africa New York, Mrs Ahunna Eziakonwa, said they were in the state to commission some of their projects in Banki Town and have met with all the Border towns in affected countries to chart a way forward in ensuring peace and safe return to their areas.

She also pledged to continue to assist the state in rebuilding more communities destroyed by the Insurgents.
