Borno police parade 59 suspects for human trafficking, kidnapping, rape, other crimes

Borno State Police Commissioner, CP Abdu Umar has paraded 59 suspects for various offences ranging from human trafficking, kidnapping, raping, vandalism, burglary, theft, amongst others.

The suspects were paraded on Thursday at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.

Briefing newsmen during the parade at the police headquarters, CP Abdu said: “In continuation of their efforts to rid the state of crime and criminality, during the period under review, 59 suspects were arrested for involving in 16 different cases “

He said: “Those arrested for human trafficking in person or abduction, is a 46 year old woman , Nsa Hensewa who was arrested in connection with abduction and human trafficking of 3 children named Mustapha Abdullahi (m) 7yrs, Abdullahi Mustapha (m) 5yrs and Hajara Alhassan (f) 3yrs.

“Between 5/8/2022 and 6/8/2022, the above named person, who claimed to have come to Maiduguri from Lagos abducted the above victims at Yan Nono area Bulumkutu and Monday Market area both within the Maiduguri metropolis.

“While taking them away to Lagos for an ulterior motive, she was arrested by eagle eye police operatives at the Borno Express Terminus Maiduguri.

“Suspect on interrogation confessed to the crime and revealed that she was sent with the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000) by one Lady ‘B’ at petroleum housing estate Lagos for a motive she claimed is known to the said Lady ‘B’ who is being trailed for arrest.

“The sum of four hundred and ten thousand naira (N410, 000) which was part of the five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000) said to be collected by the suspect from the said Lady ‘B’ (at large) was found on her.”, Umar said.

According to him, items recovered included sum of four hundred and ten thousand naira (N410, 000) cash.

Also paraded for kidnapping include Abdu Isah (m) 22yrs, Musa Haro (m) 25yrs, Wada Hassan (m) 20yrs and Saleh Bukar (m) 36yrs for kidnapping a woman in hawul local.government area of the state.

The CP explained that ” On 17/5/2022 at about 1700hrs, the above named suspects were arrested at Galadima forest in Hawul LGA by the Police in collaboration of local hunters for kidnapping some victims sometime in February, 2022 and collected a ransom of one million naira (N1, 000, 000) before releasing them.”

However, the suspects in rigorous interviews with Journalists’ confessed to their crimes and admitted sharing and squandering the loots. Search of their hideout in the forest led to the recovery of the above weapons which include – 3 dane guns and 3 cutlasses as well as One knife were recovered from them.

Also arrested include one Jibrin Alh. Kyari (M) and mar Nasiru (M) arrested fof conspiracy,vandalism and theft.

The police commissioner said: “On 16/7/2022 at about 0800hrs, following a tip-off from a reliable source that, an electric Elepac Generator, donated by a Non Governmental Organization resident in Saudi Arabia, for use by Jajeri community Maiduguri was stolen, on receipt of the information, tentacles were spread by crack operatives.

” The above suspects of Jajeri ward Maiduguri were arrested in connection with the crime, suspects on interrogation confessed to the commission of the crime, led detectives to the recovery of the stolen Elepac Generator. Investigation towards unveiling their past atrocity is on progress.

“25 suspects were also arrested for criminal.conspiracy, theft in dwelling house and receiving stolen items are Husseini Mohammed (m) 18yrs,, Adamu Ibrahim (m) , Tanko Musa (m) 26yrs,, Umar Abubakar (m) 22yrs, Mohammed Abubakar (m) , , Sale Mamud (m),, Ahmadu Usman (m), , Abubakar Mohammed (m),, Adamu Hamidu (m), Mohammed Abba Koromi (m) 22y, , Mohammed Sabo Ahmed (m) 2yrs,Kabiru Gaji (m) 18yrs,

“Others include Abdullahi Idris (m) 18yrs,and, Audu Mohammed (m) 25yrs, Salim Abubakar (m), Umar Yunusa Alias Bamayi (m) 22yrs, Chidera Chikwudi (m) 19yrs, Abdulkadir Ibrahim (m) 31yrs, Abubakar Riski (m) 20yrs, Mohammed Umar (m) 19yrs, Sani Abubakar (m) 21yrs, Tahir Jibrin (m) 25yrs, Wakil Garba (m) 20yrs, Tuja Umar (m) 18yrs and Nura Mohammed (m) 25yrs – receiver”, CP Umar said
