Brotherhood holds fasting, prayer sessions for restoration of peace between Russia & Ukraine

PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

Members of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) in Calabar have held a one day fasting and prayer sessions for quick restoration of peace between Ukraine and Russia and other hot spots in the world, including Nigeria.

They also prayed for the upcoming Peace March climaxing this weekend in Akure, capital of Ondo State.

Information Officer of the spiritual organisation, Christ Patriarch Joseph Abba disclosed this on Sunday in a statement issued to newsmen.

According to him, the fold had to embark on a one-day fast on Sunday where they specifically prayed for divine intervention in the affairs of Nigeria even as the general elections approaches.

“The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star organisation is today holding a one day fasting and prayer sessions ahead of our annual Peace March event which is holding in Ondo State this year. It shall witness a mini solemn march in some streets in Calabar.

“This fasting involves all brethren of the fold in all countries.

“We are praying for peace in Nigeria. We are also praying for peace to return to Ukraine and for the killings to cease, and other conflicts points around the world.

“The Peace March which will climax on Saturday 5 March 2022 will witness a procession around major streets of Akure, capital of Ondo State alongside prayers for peace in Nigeria and in the world.”

Also, The International President of the Association of Brotherhood Academic Scholars (ABAS), Patriarch Ekuma Egwu said: “Universal peace is imperative. This is the reason our organisation annually fast and undertakes this special and solemn march in a designated state or nation.

“This year, no fewer than 45,000 youths and other brethren have already confirmed that they will physically participate in the peace march in Akure, which event will be a week-long.”
