International Afrobeats star Burna Boy reportedly faced an unexpected hitch on his arrival in Morocco after airport customs officials raised concerns over his expensive gold jewellery.
The incident was disclosed by the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, who said the Nigerian singer was briefly held up due to the size and weight of the flashy accessories he was wearing.
According to Motsepe, the attention of customs officers was drawn to Burna Boy’s appearance on arrival. “Customs officers noticed his heavy and eye-catching gold jewellery,” the CAF president revealed, explaining that the unusual display prompted additional scrutiny.
Burna Boy was in Morocco for a CAF-related event where he was scheduled to perform, making the delay both unexpected and noteworthy, given his status as a global music icon.
Although Motsepe did not state how long the clearance process lasted, the incident underscores the strict security and customs regulations enforced at Moroccan airports, particularly when high-value items are involved.
As of the time of reporting, Burna Boy has not issued any public statement regarding the airport encounter, leaving fans and observers to speculate about the extent of the delay.
