Belgian side Club Brugge and Atlético Madrid played out a thrilling 3‑3 draw in their first-leg Champions League play-off tie on Wednesday.
Atlético took a strong 2‑0 lead by half-time. Spanish striker Julián Álvarez scored from a penalty in the 8th minute, and Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman added the second just before the break, marking his first Champions League goal for the club.
Brugge came back after the break. Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika pulled one back in the 51st minute. Nicolo Tresoldi made it 2‑2 later in the hour.
The hosts went ahead with a late own goal from Atlético defender Joel Ordóñez, but Greek winger Christos Tzolis leveled in stoppage time. The game finished 3‑3.
The tie is still wide open ahead of the return leg in Madrid on March 4. Both sides will be looking to settle it at the Wanda Metropolitano.
