Embattled IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu in court
A tense scene played out on Thursday at the Federal High Court in Abuja after Justice James Omotosho ordered operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) to remove Nnamdi Kanu from the courtroom following a brief standoff.
The drama unfolded when Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), openly resisted efforts to proceed with the day’s judgment. According to those present, Kanu repeatedly insisted that the ruling scheduled for delivery “would not go on,” prompting surprise within the courtroom.
Despite several attempts by DSS operatives to calm him and persuade him to comply with the judge’s instructions, Kanu refused to leave the courtroom or allow the proceedings to continue. His defiance left the court in a momentary deadlock.
With no resolution in sight, Justice Omotosho paused the session and directed security operatives to escort Kanu out, describing his conduct as disruptive. The judge then stood the matter down after ordering the DSS to take control of the situation.
The incident marks yet another dramatic twist in Kanu’s long-running legal battle.
