COAS hosts troops, assures them of improved welfare, logistics, operational equipment

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru has re-affiirmed the Nigerian Army assurance and commitment to continue to improve all the welfare, logistics and operational requirements of officers and soldiers in every part of the country.

He also reiterated Mr. President’s appreciation and support to the Nigeria Army to end the lingering Boko Haram Insurgency and other criminal activities across the country.

General Attahiru, who stated this on Friday during the Sallah Luncheon, held at the Theater Command Headquarters, Maimalari Cantonment, served foods and drinks to the sick and wounded officers and soldiers who are receiving various treatment at the 7 Division Hospital and Medical Services in Maiduguri.

He noted that the luncheon was organized to motivate and encourage The Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, to do their work better and have a sense of belonging.

The COAS, further extended his appreciation to the officers and soldiers for their sacrifices and commitment to duty, while praying to God to bless them.

He charged them to always be in high morale and be steadfast in the discharge of their constitutional responsibility of protecting and safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

Earlier, The Theater Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, Major Gen. Farouq Yahaya, said “the officers and soldiers of the theater felt proud and motivated to have the COAS in their midst and lunch with them which was a clear indication that the COAS had them in mind”.

“The lunch has further given the troops some sense of togetherness and love for one another”, he said.

Maj. Gen. Yahaya, however, assured the COAS that the troops would continue to be loyal, dedicated and remain focus in restoring peace in the North-East region.

He further thanked the COAS for commissioning the two newly constructed projects at the Maimalari Cantonment, which include: two blocks of HQ TC Officers and Soldiers Transit Accommodations.

“The Officers’ Transit Accommodation consist of 8 rooms for senior officers and 4 rooms for junior officers while the soldiers accommodation consist of 20 beds capacity dormitry with 2 side rooms or offices”.

“The various accommodations have been furnished with all the necessary facilities including furnitures, electricity, water supply system or borehole , TV, satellite dish, etc”, he said.

Maj. Gen. Yahaya, also appreciated the COAS for approving the construction of additional office accomodation at the Theater Command Headquarters, aimed at providing conducive working environment for the Headquarters’ staff.
