Code of ethics: Governor Alia’s aide tasks broadcasters on compliance

Technical Adviser on Media, Publicly and Strategic Communication to the Benue State Governor, Solomon Iorpev has tasked broadcasters to uphold the tenets of the broadcast code in order to discharge their duties responsibly.
Mr. Iorpey spoke on Friday during a courtesy call on him by the Benue State delegation of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters led by the former Director-General of Radio Benue Corporation, Dr. Charles Iornumbe.
He assured that the tenets of the broadcast code would enable them perform creditably.
Iorpev, who expressed Governor Alia’s commitment to providing good governance to people of the state, urged the broadcasters to always demonstrate professionalism while carrying out their duties, and commended the broadcasters for the visit, just as he underscored Governor Alia-led government’s passion for bringing development closer to the people through strategic initiatives that could drive economic growth, and promote sustainable development.
The Benue State Coordinator, Society of Nigerian Broadcasters and leader of the delegation, Dr. Charles Iornumbe earlier in his remarks said that the visit was to congratulate and identify with Chief Iorpev on his appointment as the Technical Adviser to the Governor, and the recent conferment of a chieftaincy title on him as the (Akinde U Konshisha) and also appreciate Governor Alia for appointing a seasoned broadcaster like Chief Iorpev with a pledged to support his administration.
A member of the delegation and the Zonal Director, Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Makurdi Zonal Network Centre, Mr. Pan Dung Nyam acknowledged the significant contributions of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to the broadcast industry and encouraged Chief Iorpev to remain focused and deliver on him assignment.
Highpoint of the courtesy visit was the presentation of a portrait to the Technical Adviser on his appointment by the Governor.
