Davido and his daughter, Imade Adeleke
Nigerian music star Davido has announced his decision to withdraw from the ongoing custody case involving his daughter, Imade Adeleke, describing the experience as deeply painful.
The singer made the disclosure on his official X page, clarifying that he never sought full custody of his daughter but only requested joint custody and unrestricted access to her.
According to him, his main desire has always been to remain actively involved in his child’s life.
> “Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade,” he wrote.
The statement has since generated widespread reactions across social media platforms.
Davido shared Imade with social media influencer Sophia Momodu, and the legal dispute had been before the Lagos State High Court, Yaba.
The singer also revealed that a comment made during the court proceedings about his late son affected him deeply, describing it as a “low blow.” He said the remark contributed to his decision to step away from the legal battle.
“This one hurt,” he reportedly noted, reflecting on the emotional toll of the case.
As of the time of filing this report, Sophia Momodu has not issued any fresh statement on the matter.
With Davido’s withdrawal, the court process has now been put on hold. The award-winning artiste maintains that his only intention was to be present in his daughter’s life and support her growth.
For now, the future direction of the situation remains uncertain.
