There was a brief moment of drama at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday as the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu openly objected to the court moving ahead with judgment in his ongoing terrorism trial.
Just as Justice James Omotosho signaled the start of proceedings and instructed the court registrar to call the case—Federal Republic of Nigeria vs. Nnamdi Kanu—the IPOB leader rose unexpectedly to his feet.
Interrupting the formal process, Kanu firmly declared, “My lord, there is no judgment today because we have joined issues in the matter.”
His comment briefly disrupted the court session, prompting Justice Omotosho to remind him of courtroom protocol.
“Defendant, there is decorum in court. Let the registrar call the matters accordingly,” the judge responded, urging the court to proceed in an orderly manne
