Empowering victims of Boko Haram: Allamin Foundation hosts Human Rights training workshop

The Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development, a non-governmental organization based in Maiduguri, has organized a two-day training workshop for victims, survivors, and relations of Boko Haram insurgency.

The workshop, held on October 1-2, 2024, at the Allamin Foundation Maiduguri Office, aimed to educate participants on human rights and their violations.

A mediation consultant and facilitator, Malam Mohammed Abdullahi, led the training, which covered topics such as the understanding of human rights, types, forms, consequences, facts, evidence, media reports, authorities, law enforcement agents, child abuse, rape, molestation, discrimination, and denial.

Malam Abdullahi said the workshop aimed to empower victims, survivors, and relations of Boko Haram insurgency to understand and utilize human rights in the context of peacebuilding.

According to him, training aimed to groom participants and expose them to the fundamentals of human rights, including what constitutes human rights offenses, implications, requirements, authorities, organizations, and individuals involved in human rights activities and procedures.

Also, video clips and photographs of various forms and types of human rights violations were also presented.

Participants, including Amina Audu, Maryam Mohammed, and Aisha Bukar, expressed their gratitude and delight in understanding the importance and use of human rights. Others appreciated the practical demonstrations and video clips that exposed them to the realities of human rights violations.
